Chirpy to bring the curriculum to life for 5 to 12 year olds
We have been working on an extensive project to support the West Indies Cricket Board and their sponsor Scotiabank with their sports education programme developed to reach 150,000 children, aged 5 – 12, reaching 700 primary schools across the Caribbean.
The lead character for this innovative programme, Chirpy (the West Indies Cricket Mascot, devised by children in a school competition in 2013) brings the curriculum to life for 5 to 12 year olds and helps to promote WICB’s ‘Kiddy Cricket’.
Chirpy uses cricket to bring context and meaning to every topic in the curriculum from Maths, Literacy and Science to Art & Design, Technology, Healthy Lifestyles and Child Protection.
With content provided by educational experts in the West Indies, we devised, designed and illustrated the entire programme which will initially be delivered in the form of a printed resource to include each module as both a teacher and pupil resource.
